Golfing in the Soo Area:

Take In Natures Beauty At
The Sault Ste. Marie Country Club
Golf Course-Open To the Public!

Ranking among the oldest golf courses in the state, the Sault Ste Marie Municipal Golf Course & Country Club is over 100 years old.

Once a private club founded by a group of Union Carbide employees, the Sault Golf Course has been a 9-hole layout for most of its existence. But, in the mid 1980’s, the course was expanded to 18 holes, all of the ponds were added and three of the old holes were redesigned. Well-known Michigan architect Jerry Matthews designed the new layout.

Enjoy a casual round of golf and watch a freighter cruising through the St. Mary’s River while you putt on the 17th green , or take on a serious round on the challenging layout.

The Sault Ste Marie Country Club offers it members’ use of the clubhouse, dining area, pool and banquet room. The fine dining menu includes a variety of high quality selections. For more information please call the Country Club at 906-632-9771 or the Pro-Shop at 906-632-7812.

Many people are discovering what has been called the best kept golf secret in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Tanglewood Marsh Golf Course has much to offer. The beginner and average golfer will appreciate the friendly atmosphere and unhurried pace on the course, while the advanced golfer will appreciate the rewards of being able to place their shots.

Tanglewood Marsh is inside the city limits of the Soo and was carefully carved out of an area that included wetlands. Working with the Michigan DEQ, the course was laid out to preserve the wetlands and provide over 5,500 yards of play.

You do not need to be a member to enjoy the great food and fully stocked bar served in the beautiful clubhouse. Tanglewood Marsh is one of the few courses in the area that is licensed to serve alcoholic beverages both in the clubhouse and on the course.. The outdoor patio offers a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the view.

Tanglewood Marsh has been voted the best course in the Sault Evening News “Best of the Counties” survey and when you visit, you’ll know why.
