Spend a day celebrating aviation during the Sanderson Field Open House on Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. This free, family-friendly event invites visitors to explore aircraft up close, view airport operations equipment, learn about aviation education and career opportunities, and enjoy live music throughout the day.

Representatives from Lake Superior State University and the Sault College Aviation Program will be on-site to share information about their programs and opportunities. Airplane rides will be offered throughout the event, and visitors can watch a Citation 501 Stallion jet demonstration at 12:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Young aviation fans can participate in a kids coloring contest from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., with winners announced at 2 p.m. Prizes include an airplane ride over Sault Ste. Marie, a gift card to Alpine Chocolat Haus, and an airplane plane tag.

The Sanderson Field Open House is free and open to the public.

Please note: Ford Tri-Motor rides have been canceled due to maintenance issues. Other airplane rides are still scheduled to take place during the event for $80/person.
