Shop Small is a nationwide movement to celebrate small businesses on Small Business Saturday and every day and to help communities thrive and stay vibrant. Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses and communities across the country and is part of the larger Shop Small Movement. Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the U.S. Since it started in 2010, consumers have reported spending an estimated $163 billion at small businesses across all 12 Small Business Saturdays combined.
Shop local in Downtown Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, 11/25 to kick off your holiday shopping. Follow this event page as we post updates closer to time on participating stores and the sales and discounts they will be offering.
We are excited to be bringing back a popular tradition again this year – the Small Business Saturday® Shop Small Selfie Event. We did this last year, and everyone loved it! When shoppers stop by local businesses on November 25th, they can take photos of themselves with the store owners, staff, or special in-store displays to show their support for their favorite local businesses. We will make a post on our Downtown Sault Ste. Marie FB page the morning of the event, where you will then comment with your selfies using the hashtags #ShopSmall and #DowntownSault. Each photo will be entered into a drawing for one of three prizes valued at $50 from local businesses.
