Chippewa County Historical Society

The Chippewa County Historical Society (CCHS) strives to promote an appreciation of the local history of Chippewa County and the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Our location on the shores of the St. Marys River has provided our community with a rich and varied history dating back to the 1600s.

Formed in 1919, the CCHS has a long tradition in the community of working to preserve and share our community’s unique story.
