Call for Entry: Sault Area Arts Council Announces “Chippewa County in Photographs” Event

Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan – June 4, 2025

The Sault Area Arts Council (SAAC) invites photographers of all skill levels and photographic processes – from smartphone photography to film to digital photography and everything in between – to register for the third annual Chippewa County in Photographs event, which kicks off June 13, 2025.

Chippewa County in Photographs gives 48 photographers 48 hours to document 48 sections of Chippewa County. Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 13, and ending at 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, photographers will explore specific sections of Chippewa County with their chosen camera medium – film, digital camera, smartphone, or any other alternative process. The resulting images will be on display at the Alberta House gallery for the month of August. Best in Show will receive a $300 award; first runner-up will receive a $200 award; and second runner-up will receive a $100 award.

Mansfield State Farm Insurance Agency, Inc. has generously sponsored the event.

Participants do not have to be residents of Chippewa County, but they must physically be in Chippewa County from June 13 through June 15 in order to participate.

“What I love most about this show is the sense of collaboration—everyone coming together with the shared goal of capturing our beautiful county through photography. Whether you’re a professional or someone who simply loves taking photos for fun, I hope you’ll take part. I can’t wait to see the many different ways people interpret the same 48 hours,” said Libbey Brown, SAAC Operations Manager.
