Junior Achievement of the Upper Peninsula to Host Youth Summit for Future Entrepreneurs

Junior Achievement of the Upper Peninsula (JAUP) is proud to announce the Youth Summit for Future Entrepreneurs, a hands-on, immersive learning experience designed to inspire and prepare the next generation of business leaders. The event will take place on March 4, 2026, and will welcome 120 students from Sault Area High School.

About Junior Achievement of the Upper Peninsula

Junior Achievement of the Upper Peninsula is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young people to own their economic success. Through experiential programs focused on financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship, JAUP connects students with real-world learning opportunities and local business professionals, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to succeed in today’s evolving economy.

Event Overview

The Youth Summit for Future Entrepreneurs will challenge students to work in teams to identify and solve real-world problems while strengthening essential soft skills such as presentation skills, teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, time management, conflict resolution, communication, and creativity. These skills are critical for success in both higher education and the modern workplace.

During the event, students will collaborate with local business mentors to create and pitch a business concept aimed at solving a presented challenge. This mentor-guided experience will provide students with valuable insight into entrepreneurship, innovation, and career pathways while fostering meaningful connections with professionals from the Upper Peninsula business community.

“The Youth Summit for Future Entrepreneurs brings learning to life,” said Nikki Dowd-McKechnie, District Coordinator. “By combining teamwork, mentorship, and real-world challenges, we’re helping students see what’s possible for their future and equipping them with skills they can use immediately and long term.”
