Katie’s story is one of incredible strength and resilience. After overcoming a traumatic experience, she was reclaiming her life and future when tragedy struck. The event, created in her memory, aims to provide a positive, fun environment for young athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship, community, and empowerment. The Katie Robinson Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a senior at Sault Area High School.
The showcase features youth hockey teams that will play all weekend. After the youth games, attendees will enjoy a marquee game between the Lake Superior State University Lady Lakers and the Aquinas Saints. On Saturday, participants and their families will enjoy a day of fun filled with activities around town along with their games. The showcase culminates with Sunday Game Day for all registered teams on February 16th. Organizers are aiming to register 24 teams this year.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Diane Peppler Resource Center, supporting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and the Katie Robinson Memorial Scholarship fund.
“We are honored to continue Katie’s legacy with this annual showcase,” said Showcase Co-Chair Nancy Robinson. “It’s an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate Katie’s passion for hockey, and make a positive impact on local causes.”
