Chippewa County International Airport (CIU) is thrilled to announce new seasonal United Express flights, operated by SkyWest Airlines, beginning May 15, 2025. These daily round-trip flights will provide travelers access from CIU to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and beyond through September 28, 2025. The flights will be onboard the 50-seat CRJ200 jet aircraft.

This new service provides the entire Northern Michigan and Sault Ontario region with more convenient travel options. With this new route to Chicago, travelers will have enhanced flexibility in comparing costs, schedules, and connectivity to/from three major airports in the Great Lakes region. This addition will complement CIU’s existing daily round-trip flights to Detroit Metro (DTW) and Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP).

“The economic impact of this new service will positively affect tourism, business travel, and provide more flight options for outbound passengers. This is a win for the entire region,” stated Airport Manager Tami Beseau.
