Don’t have a kayak or paddleboard? No worries! You can rent one at Bird’s Eye Outfitters or the Regional Outdoor Center at Lake Superior State University. There are opportunities to book guided tours as well. As you disembark and put your paddle in the water for the first time, take a moment and feel your stress begin to melt away. This is your time to soak up the unique sights and sounds of the Upper Peninsula.

Looking for a day of sharing the water with friends and family? The third annual Soo Ultimate Paddle Day is taking place all day Saturday, Aug. 17. It brings races, love for the outdoors and a family friendly atmosphere together for one jam-packed day of fun. There are opportunities for paddlers of all skill levels on the shores of Rotary Park. Stay close to shore and hone your paddling skills, or venture toward Voyageur Island!

There are access docks on the south side of Rotary Park as well as on Voyageur Island. This makes launching and landing your kayak or paddleboard a breeze for any paddler.

Even though you are only less than 10 minutes from town, you will feel like you’ve discovered your own sanctuary on the river when you take time to explore the chain of small islands off the shore of Rotary Park.
