Great Lakes, Great Movies!

Join us September 16–20 for the 2026 Soo Film Festival! Soo Film Festival, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote and host film and allied arts festivals in the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The festival showcases the work of independent and emerging filmmakers, with an emphasis on films and filmmakers from the Great Lakes region.

From features and shorts to documentaries, animation, and music videos, the Soo Film Festival brings five days of independent film to Sault Ste. Marie.

The Venues

Soo Film Fest

The festival kicks off September 16 and 17 with featured selections at Bayliss Public Library, a Superior District Library. Admission to all films screened at the library is free.

The festival then continues at the Lake Superior State University Arts Center, which will host the Soo Film Festival for the first time in 2026. All programs at the LSSU Arts Center are ticketed.

Festival passes and individual tickets will be available online and at the door. General admission is $7 per block, with $5 admission for seniors and students. Daily passes are $20, and a Festival Pass, which includes admission to all films and shorts programs throughout the festival, is $50.

Celebrating All Emerging Filmmakers

Soo Film Festival places an emphasis on Great Lakes films and filmmakers, but entries are open to filmmakers worldwide. The 2026 lineup features an exciting mix of narrative and documentary features, short films, animation, and music videos.

Many of the films have not been rated by the Motion Picture Association. Festivalgoers are encouraged to read film descriptions and watch available trailers when choosing which programs to attend.
